Accounts Receivable Specialist (Temp-to-Hire)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to support high-volume AR operations for a retail and wholesale-focused organization. This is an onsite, temp-to-hire opportunity with strong potential for permanent conversion based on performance. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on AR experience, strong Excel skills, and comfort working in fast-paced, data-driven environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle Accounts Receivable processes, including billing, cash application, payment posting, and collections
- Perform B2B collections, including daily outbound calls and follow-ups on high-volume aging reports
- Handle EDI billing and resolve billing discrepancies
- Apply and reconcile customer payments, including resolving unapplied cash
- Prepare and maintain detailed AR reports for internal stakeholders
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
- Research and resolve chargebacks, short pays, and customer deductions
- Support month-end close activities related to AR
- Maintain accurate records through data entry and system updates
- Collaborate with internal teams and escalate issues as needed
Top Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of Accounts Receivable experience, including collections and cash applications
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP required)
- Excel skills will be tested as part of the interview process
- High-volume data entry accuracy and efficiency
- Experience working with retail and wholesale customers (Walgreens exposure is a strong plus)
- Comfort using multiple online accounting and billing systems
- Experience with EDI billing preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
